Paleo Pili is the ruins of a Byzantine fortress and medieval village, on a hill 360 meters high, close to the middle of Kos island. It is assumed that the hill was fortified from Mycenaean times. Paleo Pili is located in a strategic point, true refuge for the island's inhabitants.

Asklepion is a vast sanctuary, which was dedicated to the god of healing, Asclepius and it is located 3.5 km southwest of Kos town. Hippocrates (the father of modern medicine) studied there, taught and founded his Medical School, which became famous throughout the ancient world and the largest hospital in ancient Greece.
